Illustrative story: a fictional example written by the Who's Wrong? team, not a real submission.

My best friend invited 12 people to my birthday dinner and expected me to pay

I planned a small dinner for my 30th with four close friends. My best friend "helped" by inviting twelve extra people, including two I've never met. When the bill came, everyone looked at me because "it's your party". I paid for my original guests and left the rest. Now half the table thinks I'm stingy.
